Cooking
- Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth or a mushroom brush; avoid rinsing them under water to prevent sogginess. Then, slice the mushrooms into even pieces approximately ¼ inch thick.
- Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat and melt the butter. Add the sliced mushrooms to the hot skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan, and cook them without stirring for about 3-5 minutes until they begin to brown and release their moisture.
- Stir the mushrooms and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes, allowing them to release more moisture and brown further. Add the minced garlic and fresh thyme during the last 2 minutes of cooking, stirring continuously to infuse the flavors without burning the garlic.
- Season the mushrooms with salt and black pepper to taste, and then stir in the fresh parsley just before serving. Serve the sautéed mushrooms immediately as a delicious side dish.
Notes
For best results, do not overcrowd the pan when cooking the mushrooms, as this will steam them instead of sautéing. Cook in batches if necessary. You can also experiment with different types of mushrooms like cremini, shiitake, or a mix of wild mushrooms.
