Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grab an oven-safe baking dish.
  2. Cook the bacon slices in a skillet until crispy, then remove and crumble them, reserving the drippings in the skillet.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion in the reserved bacon drippings until it becomes translucent and tender.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the canned baked beans, cooked onion, crumbled bacon, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, mixing thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
Baking
  1. Pour the bean mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the beans are bubbly and heated through, and the sauce has thickened.
Serving
  1. Let the baked beans cool slightly before serving them warm as a delicious Southern-style side dish.

Notes

For an extra smoky flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke to the bean mixture. Adjust sweetness to your preference by adding more or less brown sugar. These baked beans are excellent for potlucks and BBQs!
