Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grab an oven-safe baking dish.
- Cook the bacon slices in a skillet until crispy, then remove and crumble them, reserving the drippings in the skillet.
- Sauté the chopped onion in the reserved bacon drippings until it becomes translucent and tender.
- In a large bowl, combine the canned baked beans, cooked onion, crumbled bacon, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, mixing thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
Baking
- Pour the bean mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the beans are bubbly and heated through, and the sauce has thickened.
Serving
- Let the baked beans cool slightly before serving them warm as a delicious Southern-style side dish.
Notes
For an extra smoky flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke to the bean mixture. Adjust sweetness to your preference by adding more or less brown sugar. These baked beans are excellent for potlucks and BBQs!
