Instructions
- Combine cranberries, sugar, and water (or orange juice) in a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in orange zest, if using.
- Let the sauce cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled and ready to serve.
Notes
For a smoother sauce, you can mash some of the cranberries with a fork. Adjust sugar to your taste preference. Can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
