Preparation
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into uniform 1-inch cubes.
- Place the cubed potatoes and minced garlic in a large pot, cover them with cold water, and add a pinch of salt; bring to a boil, then simmer for 15-20 minutes until very tender.
Mashing & Serving
- Drain the potatoes and garlic thoroughly using a colander, then return them to the empty pot.
- Add the warmed milk, melted butter, salt, and pepper to the pot with the potatoes and garlic.
- Mash the ingredients until smooth and creamy, adjusting seasonings to taste.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley or chives if desired.
Notes
For extra rich mashed potatoes, substitute half of the milk with heavy cream or half-and-half. You can also roast the garlic cloves before adding them for a deeper, sweeter garlic flavor.
