  • 2 lb Potatoes Russet or Yukon Gold
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup Milk whole, warmed
  • 1/4 cup Butter unsalted, melted
  • 1 tsp Salt or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper freshly ground
For Garnish (Optional)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley or chives chopped

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into uniform 1-inch cubes.
  2. Place the cubed potatoes and minced garlic in a large pot, cover them with cold water, and add a pinch of salt; bring to a boil, then simmer for 15-20 minutes until very tender.
Mashing & Serving
  1. Drain the potatoes and garlic thoroughly using a colander, then return them to the empty pot.
  2. Add the warmed milk, melted butter, salt, and pepper to the pot with the potatoes and garlic.
  3. Mash the ingredients until smooth and creamy, adjusting seasonings to taste.
  4. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley or chives if desired.

Notes

For extra rich mashed potatoes, substitute half of the milk with heavy cream or half-and-half. You can also roast the garlic cloves before adding them for a deeper, sweeter garlic flavor.
