Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, drain any excess fat, and then stir in the marinara sauce.
- In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
Assembly
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish, then arrange three lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Top the noodles with half of the ricotta mixture, then half of the remaining meat sauce, and sprinkle with one cup of mozzarella and half of the Parmesan.
- Repeat the layers once more, ending with a final layer of noodles, the rest of the meat sauce, and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
Baking
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving, allowing the layers to set and making it easier to serve.
Notes
For an extra touch, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the ricotta mixture. If using fresh noodles, you may not need to pre-cook them; check package instructions. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated. Consider adding a layer of spinach for extra vegetables and nutrients.
