Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Large skillet or wok

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes if using, to create the sauce.
  2. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through.
  3. Drain any excess grease from the cooked beef, then pour the prepared sauce over the beef and stir to combine.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the beef.
  5. To serve, divide the cooked rice among four bowls, then top each with a generous portion of the Korean beef.
  6. Garnish each bowl with shredded carrots, sliced cucumber, sliced green onions, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra heat, add more red pepper flakes. You can also customize the vegetables with options like spinach, kimchi, or a fried egg.
