- In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes if using, to create the sauce.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through.
- Drain any excess grease from the cooked beef, then pour the prepared sauce over the beef and stir to combine.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the beef.
- To serve, divide the cooked rice among four bowls, then top each with a generous portion of the Korean beef.
- Garnish each bowl with shredded carrots, sliced cucumber, sliced green onions, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
Notes
For extra heat, add more red pepper flakes. You can also customize the vegetables with options like spinach, kimchi, or a fried egg.
