Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl, then set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness, then cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
- In a medium bowl, beat softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla extract, beating until smooth and fluffy.
- If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and mix until fully incorporated.
- Once cookies are completely cool, spread or pipe the frosting onto them.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg or almond extract to the cookie dough or frosting. Get creative with cookie cutters for different occasions!
