Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup Cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cups Granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon Baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
Wet Ingredients
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Optional
  • ½ cup Chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking pan (9x13 inch)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Method

Prepare the batter
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter and granulated sugar, then whisk until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
Bake the brownies
  1. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
Cool and serve
  1. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting them into squares. Serve plain or with a scoop of ice cream.

Notes

For an extra fudgy brownie, do not overbake. You can add a handful of chocolate chips to the batter for more chocolatey goodness.
