Method
 

Preparation
  1. Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil, ensuring enough space between each tree for growth. Dig five holes, each twice as wide as the sapling’s root ball and as deep as the root ball itself.
Planting
  1. Gently remove each sapling from its container, loosen any circling roots, and place it in a hole so the root collar is level with the ground. Backfill each hole with a mixture of compost and topsoil, gently tamping down to remove air pockets.
  2. Water each tree thoroughly immediately after planting, then apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base of each tree, keeping it a few inches from the trunk.
Initial Care
  1. Water the newly planted trees deeply once or twice a week, depending on rainfall and soil moisture. Protect young trees from pests and diseases by regularly inspecting them for any signs of trouble.

Notes

For best results, consider soil testing before planting to adjust pH and nutrient levels if needed. Prune trees lightly in the first year to establish a strong central leader and good branch structure.
