Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Rising and Baking
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each into a round roll. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each.
- Cover the rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm place for 15-20 minutes, or until they have visibly doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top and cooked through.
- Once baked, immediately brush the tops of the hot rolls with melted butter for extra flavor and shine.
Notes
For an extra golden-brown crust, you can brush the rolls with an egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water) before baking. These rolls are best served warm, fresh out of the oven.
