For the Beef

For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
For the Stir-fry
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Method
 

Marinate the Beef
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil.
  2. Toss to coat the beef evenly and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes at room temperature, or longer in the refrigerator.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, cornstarch, and water until well combined.
Cook the Broccoli
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
Cook the Beef
  1. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet and increase the heat to high.
  3. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned.
Combine and Serve
  1. Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet with the beef.
  2. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli.
  3. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything.
  4. Serve immediately with steamed rice, if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce. Adjust the sweetness and saltiness of the sauce to your preference. Serve over steamed white or brown rice for a complete meal.
