Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound beef, thinly sliced (ribeye or sirloinおすすめです)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, thinly sliced optional
  • 6 slices provolone cheese, sliced
  • 2 hoagie rolls
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • griddle

Method

Instructions
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers (if using) and cook until softened and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the same skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Return the cooked onions and peppers to the skillet with the beef. Mix well.
  4. Divide the meat and vegetable mixture into two portions in the skillet. Place 3 slices of provolone cheese over each portion. Cover the skillet for a minute or two to allow the cheese to melt.
  5. Carefully scoop each portion of the cheesy meat mixture into a hoagie roll. Serve immediately.

Notes

For an authentic Philly experience, use Cheez Whiz instead of provolone. You can also toast the hoagie rolls before filling them for extra crunch.
