Ingredients

Meatloaf
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • loaf pan
  • large bowl
  • meat thermometer

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, but do not overmix.
Assembly
  1. Press the meat mixture firmly into the prepared loaf pan, shaping it evenly.
Baking
  1. Spread the ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf before placing it in the preheated oven.
  2. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) with a meat thermometer.
Resting
  1. Once baked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes.
  2. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more moist meatloaf.
Serving
  1. Carefully remove the meatloaf from the pan, slice, and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can sauté the chopped onion before adding it to the meat mixture. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans for a complete meal.
