Cooking Instructions
- To grow your own cabbage, plant seeds or seedlings in rich, well-draining soil in a sunny spot, spacing them 18-24 inches apart.
- Water regularly and keep an eye out for pests; harvest when the head is firm and dense.
- Once harvested, wash and chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
- Cook chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, then remove and set aside, reserving the bacon fat.
- Add chopped onion to the skillet with bacon fat and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, along with salt and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender-crisp, about 10-15 minutes.
- Stir in the apple cider vinegar and cooked bacon, tossing to combine.
- Serve immediately as a delicious side dish.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic. Adjust cooking time based on your preferred level of cabbage tenderness.
