Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 head green cabbage medium
  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Paper towels

Method

Preparation
  1. Chop the bacon into small pieces and cut the cabbage into 1/2 inch strips.
  2. Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
Cooking
  1. Cook the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy; remove and drain on paper towels, saving 1 tablespoon of bacon fat in the skillet.
  2. Add the onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes, then add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the cabbage to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until it wilts and begins to brown, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  4. Stir in the apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper, then return the cooked bacon to the skillet, stirring to combine; serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic. Ensure the cabbage is well-drained after washing to prevent excess moisture when frying.
