  • 1.5 cups Basmati Rice
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 0.5 cup Onion, chopped
  • 3 cups Chicken Broth
  • 0.5 tsp Salt

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Lid

Method

Preparation
  1. Thoroughly rinse the basmati rice under cold water until it runs clear, then set it aside to drain completely.
  2. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, then add chopped onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Stir in the drained basmati rice, coating it evenly with the butter and onions, and toast for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden.
  2. Pour in the chicken broth and add salt, bringing the mixture to a boil.
Simmer and Serve
  1. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly, and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  2. Remove from heat and let stand, still covered, for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork and serving hot.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, consider toasting a small amount of vermicelli or orzo pasta along with the rice before adding the liquid. This will add a pleasant texture and a deeper, nutty taste to your pilaf.
