Method
 

Instructions
  1. Gently heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it's warm and steaming, but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
  2. In the warm milk, gradually whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt until thoroughly combined and smooth. Continue heating and stirring for another minute.
  3. Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla extract, then pour into mugs and serve immediately, optionally topped with whipped cream or marshmallows.

Notes
