Preparation
- Cook the fettuccine pasta according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside, reserving about 1 cup of pasta water.
- While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat, then add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
Making the Sauce
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally for about 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Reduce the heat to low, then gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste, then if the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.
Combine and Serve
- Add the cooked fettuccine to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce and toss gently to coat all the pasta evenly.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh chopped parsley and extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
For an extra rich sauce, use freshly grated Parmesan cheese. If you prefer a thicker sauce, simmer the cream a bit longer before adding the cheese. You can also add grilled chicken or shrimp for a complete meal.
