Method
 

Preparation
  1. Measure out 9 cups of Rice Chex cereal and place it into a large mixing bowl; set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter; microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture.
  4. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the coated cereal to a large Ziploc bag or airtight container, then add the powdered sugar.
  6. Seal the bag or container and shake well until all the cereal pieces are thoroughly coated with powdered sugar.
  7. Spread the Puppy Chow onto a baking sheet to cool and set before serving.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can add a pinch of salt to the chocolate mixture to enhance the flavors. Store any leftover Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
