Equipment

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the chicken into 1-inch pieces and pat dry. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch to create the basic sesame chicken sauce.
Cooking the Base
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Developing Variations
  1. Divide the cooked chicken into 5 portions. For each portion, return it to the skillet with one-fifth of the basic sauce. Now, customize each portion with the additional ingredients for one of the five variations. Cook each variation separately for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the chicken.
Serving
  1. Garnish each sesame chicken variation with sesame seeds and serve immediately with rice or noodles.

Notes

This method allows for simultaneous exploration of different flavor profiles. Adjust spice levels and sweetness to your preference in each variation. Consider serving with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
