Preparation
- Preheat your grill or smoker to 250°F (120°C) for indirect heat.
- Remove the membrane from the back of each rib rack, then pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
Applying the Rub and Cooking
- Generously apply your favorite BBQ rub to all sides of the ribs.
- Place the ribs on the grill, bone-side down, and cook for 2.5 to 3 hours, maintaining a consistent temperature.
- Spritz the ribs with apple cider vinegar every 45 minutes to keep them moist.
Finishing Touches
- After 2.5-3 hours, brush the ribs with your favorite BBQ sauce.
- Continue cooking for another 30-60 minutes, or until the sauce caramelizes and the ribs are tender.
Rest and Serve
- Remove the ribs from the grill, tent with foil, and let them rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
- Slice and serve your delicious Labor Day BBQ Ribs.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a few drops of liquid smoke to your BBQ sauce or dry rub. Adjust cook times as needed based on the thickness of your ribs and your specific grill setup. The ribs are done when the meat pulls away easily from the bone.
