Planting
- Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil and enrich it with compost.
- Plant Brussels sprout seeds 1/2 inch deep and 2-3 inches apart.
- Thin seedlings to 12-18 inches apart once they are a few inches tall.
Care
- Water regularly, especially during dry spells, keeping the soil consistently moist.
- Apply mulch around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Harvesting
- Harvest sprouts from the bottom of the stalk when they are firm and 1-2 inches in diameter.
- Continue harvesting upwards as sprouts mature.
Notes
Brussels sprouts grow best in cool weather. Consider planting in late spring for a fall harvest or late summer for a winter harvest in milder climates. Protect young plants from pests with garden netting if needed.
