  • 3/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup Packed light brown sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer (or whisk)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Spatula
  • Wire rack

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and being careful not to overmix.
  6. Finally, gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them a few inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewy cookies, underbake them slightly and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few extra minutes before moving them to a wire rack.
