Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and being careful not to overmix.
- Finally, gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
- Drop rounded tablespoons of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them a few inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra chewy cookies, underbake them slightly and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few extra minutes before moving them to a wire rack.
