Ingredients

Waffle Batter
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.25 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter plus extra for greasing
Toppings (Optional)
  • syrup for serving
  • fresh fruit for serving
  • whipped cream for serving

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Waffle iron

Method

Prepare Batter
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: milk, egg, and melted butter. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined and a few lumps remain.
Cook Waffles
  1. Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with melted butter or cooking spray.
  2. Pour about 1/2 cup of batter onto the hot waffle iron, spreading it evenly.
  3. Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the waffle is golden brown and crispy, then carefully remove it from the iron.
Serve
  1. Repeat with the remaining batter to make a total of three waffles. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter, as this can lead to tough waffles. For extra crispy waffles, you can cook them for an additional minute or two.
