Gardening Prep
  1. Choose a sunny spot in your garden and ensure good drainage; prepare the soil with potting mix and compost.
  2. Plant tomato and lettuce seeds according to package directions, spacing them properly for growth.
Growth and Care
  1. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, and fertilize every few weeks as directed by your plant food.
  2. Support tomato plants with stakes or cages as they grow to help them bear fruit.
Harvesting
  1. Harvest lettuce leaves when they are young and tender, and pick tomatoes when they are fully ripe and firm.
  2. Harvest basil (if planted) before it flowers for the best flavor.
BLT Assembly
  1. Cook bacon until crispy, then drain excess fat and set aside on paper towels.
  2. Toast bread slices to your desired crispiness; for herbed mayo, finely chop basil and mix with mayonnaise.
  3. Spread mayonnaise generously on one side of each toast slice.
  4. Layer freshly picked lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and crispy bacon on one slice of toast.
  5. Top with the second slice of toast, cut in half, and serve your garden BLT immediately.

Notes

Growing your own ingredients provides the freshest taste. Choose heirloom tomato varieties for exceptional flavor and consider making your own basil-infused mayonnaise for an extra gourmet touch. Adjust bacon crispiness and toast level to your preference. Enjoy the fruits (and vegetables!) of your labor!
