  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  2. Bake for 9-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewiness, lightly underbake the cookies. You can also add other mix-ins like nuts or dried fruit.
